Free Monthly Educational Programs
6:30 p.m. refreshments and social time. 7:00 p.m. a free genealogy program in Meeting Room A at the Allen County Public Library (ACPL), 900 Library Plaza, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Genealogy Technology Group
Meets the third Wednesday evening of each month September to May in Meeting Room B at 7:00 p.m at ACPL. We have an open discussion of anything related to the internet, computers, social media, genealogy software and much much more.

What Does The Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana Do?
Membership of the Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana is increasing with over 330 paid members in our 37th year since 1976. The monthly unique visitor numbers to our web site continues to increase. Annual membership fees and donations help fund our web sites and growing online social media presence.
- We offer monthly education programs September through May, a monthly Computer Interest Group and genealogy workshops at the Allen County Public Library.
- We have an Annual June Banquet where we award First Family, direct descendant of a pioneer who settled in Allen County, Indiana before December 31, 1850, and Homesteaders, direct descendant of a pioneer who settled in Allen County between January 1, 1851 and December 31, 1875, Certification.
- We have both public and members only information on our web site www.acgsi.org.
- We are currently indexing the 1940 Census which will have an individual link for each name to the census image.
- We snail mail members a printed quarterly publication The Allen County Lines which is then posted online in the members only section of our ACGSI website.
- Our social media pages include over 470 Fans on Facebook, Google+ (ACGSI), Twitter (@ACGSI), and this What’s Going On @ ACGSI blog.
- We host Allen INGenWeb one of the 92 Indiana county sites of INGenWeb.
- We collaborate with the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center by recruiting member volunteers when they host state and national seminars, look up obituary requests for copying then mailing, provide various indexing and scanning projects that go into books on the library shelves and online digital databases for their website or ours.

September Allen County Lines Quarterly
Members recently received Volume 36 Number 1 of our Quarterly Allen County Lines. We also received the updated password to our Members Only Section of our ACGSI.org website.
Several pages highlight our 35th anniversary banquet in June including a copy of Mayor Henry’s proclamation of June 8, 2011 as Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana, Inc. Day. Marge Graham discusses new databases on our ACGSI.org web site. Several pages discuss Mayor Henry’s family roots of this well known large family in Fort Wayne. Several pages show 1861 Dawson Daily Times newspaper articles discussing the Civil War, people, and activities in Fort Wayne. Several detailed death memoriams in July and August 1911 for pioneer John Jacob Buehler, Mrs. Bridget O’Conner widow of Jeremiah O’Conner, golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kemp of New Haven, Louis Schmoe, Mr. J. W. Zeublin of Pendleton the Oldest Methodist College Student, railroad newspaper articles, and recognition of Henry A. Fletter the oldest living native born in 1833 Fort Wayne. A list of names for letters remaining at the Post Office in 1845, member queries, full page memoriam for long time member and Genealogy Center volunteer George Fitzgerald, a list of new members, publications for sale, and lists of board members and contact information.
