“Indiana Territory Genealogy” presented by Ron Darrah – May 14, 2014 – Free Educational Genealogy Program
Many present day Hoosiers can trace their lineage to settlers who founded the state of Indiana. This presentation explores those early pioneer men and women, looks at their records , including history, land, money, marriage, and warfare.
Ron Darrah is the Founding Executive Director of the Genealogical Society of Marion county. Chair of the Territorial Guard Society of Indiana, and has been a genealogical researcher for nearly thirty years.

6:30 p.m. refreshments and social time. 7:00 p.m. a free genealogy program in Meeting Room A at the Allen County Public Library (ACPL), 900 Library Plaza, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Meets the third Wednesday evening of each month September to May in Meeting Room B at 7:00 p.m at ACPL. We have an open discussion of anything related to the internet, computers, social media, genealogy software and much much more. Bring your questions and/or problems to the Allen County Public Library, Room B on the third Thursday of each month from 7:00-8:30 pm.
”Discovering our Female Ancestors” presented by Melissa Shimkus – April 9, 2014 – Free Educational Genealogy Program
Female ancestors are difficult to uncover because they are “hidden” within records. Understanding the laws and situations that affected women helps us locate them. Discover how search records and locate your female ancestor.
Presented by Melissa Shimkus assistant manager of the Genealogy Center of the Allen County Public Library. She currently co-coordinates programs and seminars. Her focus includes instructions in genealogical research, emerging technologies, and southeastern research.
